Fat 2 Fit #137 – Recovering from an Injury

Written on January 11, 2012 – 11:46 pm | by Russ Turley

We’re back with all new shows for the new year. Look for shows to drop on Wednesdays and Saturday, three times a month. AND you can now listen to those shows on the new Fat 2 Fit iPhone app. Fred Giufridda over at Paladin Software volunteered his time and effort to make a sweet app. Check out the Fat 2 Fit App site to see all that the app can do.

Today we answer Alicia’s question about recovering from an injury. She tore a ligament in her ankle and had to stay immobile. She’s worried about back sliding and gaining weight. Jeff has a thorough answer for her and you.

On the Web Report, Russ highlights multiple listener posts on the Facebook page. A goal is met, a geocaching project gets great exposure and the gameifaction of fitness has begun. You will have to be a Facebook member but who isn’t nowadays. Jeff talks about an article in the New York Times about “The Fat Trap”. It was emailed to us by multiple listeners and Jeff has another doozy of a review.

Thank you so much for emailing my friend Susan concerning her questions and her frustrations in reference to the NY Time Article, Fat Trap.

I published a blog with links to your podcast and site as well as the article. I was more than a little upset with such unfactual reporting and was equally impressed with the rebuttal that you presented. I love the balanced approach to sensible weight loss and maintenance. I have lost 100 pounds, finished my first marathon last year. It took me over 3 years to get to that place. it was slow but it has stayed off and it isnt a chore to stay on top of it.

I want others to know that the balanced approach that you promote is the way to go.

Love your show, keep up the well thought out podcasts!

    Robert

One suggestion if that is not contrary to the belief system. Can you include the nutritional info for recipes posted?

    Hi Judy,
In a word, no. Whether a dish has x number of carbohydrates or x grams of protein is not the purpose of sharing a recipe. The purpose is to get those individuals that don’t think that “diet” food can taste good to change their thinking. But if you’d like to post that information on a comment or on the Facebook page I’m sure that many others would like that information.

Hey guys, hope I am not to late but wanted to post about a recipe calorie counter that works pretty good for the most. Sometimes it has problems but is the best one I have found.

I copied and pasted this episodes recipe and it worked fine.
