I agree that you are more likely to succeed at weight loss if you have a structured plan, and I so I think a business plan would work.

After several failed attempts at weight loss, I decided to approach it like a work project. I first needed to define the task to complete (50 pounds lost). I then had to set an action plan (how to complete the task). This required research on the best methods of weight loss, reasonable weight loss goals etc., which was basically "eat less, move more". I had to be more specific and set myself a daily goal of 1000 cal deficit, resulting in 2 lbs loss per week. This also lead to my timeline of 26 weeks (gave myself a little wiggle room). As the "project" went on I had to tweak the plan (sometimes the diet part, sometimes the exercise part).

While I lost weight for myself, approaching it like it was a work project took a lot of the negative self talk out of it for me. I went from constantly think that I couldn't lose weight to being challenged to complete the project. I lost the 50 lbs in 26 weeks, and went on to lose another 20 lbs. I am at my goal weight, and I am 2 months into "maintenance".

Good show. It was fun to hear my comment to Fable Fairy read "over the air."

I really agree that the most important aspect of weight management is a food and exercise diary. I expect this to be the part of my new lifestyle that will keep me on track for the long term.
