Fat 2 Fit #62 – Why Can’t I Lose Weight?
Written on April 22, 2009 – 11:23 am | by Russ Turley
How many excuses have you used explaining why you can’t lose weight? This time, we put to rest any excuse you’re using because you haven’t lost the weight you know should to become that healthier, thinner you. See if your excuse fits into one of these 8 categories:
- Nutritional education
- Food
- Exercise
- Damage from previous diets
- Hit a plateau
- Emotions
- Motivation
- Medical
In the email and comments section of the show, Angie writes in with a question about feeling hungry between meals and which snack would be the best. Jillian, a full time student, asks when is the best time to workout, morning or evening? Can we all answer this question in unison? ANYTIME! And finally Amanda wrote in with a question that we all wish we had. She’s 12 pounds from her goal weight and was wondering if she can lower her calorie level a little more aggressively to reach her goal weight a little faster.
On the Web Report, Jeff has an article about the morbidly obese. Those individuals that have blasted through the overweight and obese categories that are now in danger of dying because of their weight. Surprisingly, to him anyway, Russ was in this category at the beginning of the show and Jeff, at his heaviest, was dangerously close. Russ discusses an article that says 1 in 5 four year olds, 20%, are obese! That’s over 500,000 of them here in the United States.

Recipe of the Week:

Homework:
Come up with your own powerful belief statement of where you want to be and phrase it in the present tense. My example was “I’m a thinner and healthy person.” Come up with something similar for yourself and start saying it to yourself several times through out the day. Your belief will become your reality.

Hey, what was that last line all about? We’ve pretty much picked your brains of what you know? Don’t scare me like that. And we’ll always need more psychologizing!

Oh, that was just an out-take while we were joking around that Russ added to the very end after the music. Lot’s left in the brainy stuff!

Just so you know, I’m spreading the word on your show. I think that there is something for everyone in each episode. I adore your show and I look forward to every new podcast.
According to a test I took using the Bod Pod, I have a BMR of someone who is ten lbs lighter than I am (or at least when I input 120 lbs into Gyminee as my current weight when I am actually 130). Is this a sign of a slow metabolism?
Also, can you explain the activity level? I currently play soccer (one hour) three times a week and I walk 10,000 steps a day (I’m always wearing a pedometer) and I would like to know what my actual activity level is.
I would like to lose 10 lbs by the time I fly out to Costa Rica in mid-August. What do I need to do?
Looking forward to many more episodes of your show,
Ann Marie

Hi Guys,
I have listened to around 5 or 6 of your show so far. I wish I was listened for a while as I love it.
It just blows my mind to finally understand why I strugle with weight loss for 20+ years…. I could go not eating more than 1000 cal per day for a long time and almost nothing would happen. Sometimes I got to loose up to 40 pounds and within 2-3 years everything would be back and more.
It is hard work, but I am tracking the food very closely and finally faced the reality that I was not eating enough. All that pain just to endure a disaster.
Well, I am loving it and I finally find that I have the energy to go to the gym. I just need to eat more than my BMR and I already feel slimmer.
You openned my eyes to a better lifestyle.
Lara
