Don’t Drown Your Food

Written on January 15, 2009 – 1:05 pm | by Russ Turley

I saw this on Twitter just a couple minutes ago and had to share. It’s another of those great PSAs from the late 70′s/early 80′s. If you’re too young to remember these, you get to experience it now. This one wants you to keep all the dressings and sauces off your food. Good advice.

It’s hard to take this seriously as a PSA. We shouldn’t drown our food because it makes your food hard to see?

Even the worst-written anti-drug PSA explains or at least alludes that drugs are harmful. Would any kid deduce that excessive condiments and dressing are unhealthy form this PSA alone.

Like any good song or jingle, the point was to get the song in your brain. Then maybe the message sinks in later on. I saw this one as a kid and can recite it verbatim so it seems to have done it’s job.
